Sangiovese is such a versatile grape variety and produce such a wide variety of styles. Anything from the ultra-light to the complex beauties from Tuscany. The View Road Sangiovese comes from a vineyard that is positioned on a steep hillside in the cool Piccadilly Valley. The vineyard is always late to ripen and the team of family members and friend hand-picked these grapes on April 10th before being de-stemmed into an open top fermenter. After fermentation was complete I wrapped up the fermenter with cling wrap and the wine was allowed to stay in contact with the skins for a further 4 weeks. The wine was then pressed to old French oak for a further 12 month rest before being bottle.
